OBJECTIVES

To deepen the knowledge of fluid measurement and control technqiues which are essential for making evaluations of new fluids in the industrial processes. This new knowledge could extend the criteria to make decisions, which would save both money and time. The Training will also add International exposure and enhance producitivity.

TOPICS

1) Selection and Application of flowmeters
Different types of flowmeter s- Linear & Non-linear flowmeters, differential pressure flowmeters, Electromagnetic flowmeters, Turbine flowmeters, PD meters, Vortex flow meters, Ultrasonic flowmeters, Coriolois Mass flowmeters Thermal Mass Flowmeters etc. – Principles, applications and installation effects, slection & sizing of flowmeters for various applications.
2) Performance /QR evaluation /Calibration of flowmeters
Calibration Techniques, Primary and Secondary Calibration, Gravimetric Method, Volumetric Method, Master Meter Method, Meter Provers, Pipe Provers and Tank Provers, Calibration at Site and case Studies.
3) Calibration of Auxiliary/secondary instruments for flow measurement (Pressure, Temperature, density, Viscosity, Mass etc.)
Pressure calibration, Calibration of pressure transducers, Calibration of Mass and Weighing balances, Density and Volume calibration, Temperature Measurement and calibration and calibration of electrical parameters.
4) Performance / Quality aspects in flowmetering systems
Assessment of uncertainty and statistical analysis of accuracy in fluid flow measurement, Quality audit and measuremenet audit, traceability of measurements and Intercomparison of International labs.
5) Flow network/System parameters
Water hammer analysis, flow measurement & control in Industrial Process control, distribution network design and analysis techniques, CFD analysis.
6) Water Transition & Distribution Systems
Design aspect of water distribution systems, testing of water meters, Automated meter reading systems, pumping systems, Sumps and intakes, performance evaluation of pumps, water level controllers.
7) Electronics / Instrumentation data Acquisition Systems
Flow measurement & Control in distribution network. Supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA). Electornic design of control loops, Different types of controllers, Flow computers for custody transfer, Instrumentation related to flow measurement, Design of specialized instrumentation and control set up.
8) Valves
Control vlaves, Butterfly, Ball, Globe , Angle valve etc., Intelligent control valve, safety relief valves, non-return valves, upstream/downstream control valves/ gas filling heads etc. Performance evaluation, noise & vibration measurements of control valves.

TARGET GROUP

Technical Personnel in Mechanical, Instrumentation, Civil, Chemical and Electrical Engineering with some background of industrial instrumentation and control of fluid flow.. Participants may be from industry, R&D organisation or Academic Institutes.
